Janice Shapiro on Honoria: A Fortuitous Friendship

Thursday, March 27, at 2:30 PM on KPFK (new day and time) on Bibliocracy, my guest is screenwriter, short story writer and comics writer Janice Shapiro. Her full-length graphic novel Honoria: A Fortuitous Friendship, is out April 1 from the estimable Fantagraphics Press. This gorgeously illustrated story is a young women’s coming of age tale, revisionist history, and exploration of faith and politics. Set in 1929, it features cameos by Picasso and Chaplin and the Fitzgeralds as we anticipate the crash and World War II. Janice Shapiro is the author of the previous short story collection Bummer.
