Writing the Golden State: LA Library Launch Reading

Contributors at LA Library

Tuesday, September 3, at 2 PM on KPFK 90.7 FM: I attended the recent launch party reading celebrating the arrival of a must-read, must-own anthology. Writing the Golden State: The New Literary Terrain of California is out from the new collaborative publisher Angel City Press at the Los Angeles Public Library. It includes essays which write and rewrite stories and experiences of California with a range of writers --- including three who read last week at the downtown Los Angeles Public Library. Writing the Golden State: The New Literary Terrain of California is edited by Caribbean Fragoza, Romeo Guzman, and Samine Joudat. Featuring a forward by Susan Straight and illustrations by Fernando Mendez Corona, it's a physically beautiful book with an eclectic offering of perspectives, stories, arguments, and interpretations of almost every part of California. Today you'll hear readings from contributors Ruth Nolan, Ruxandra Guidi, and David L Ulin. Special thanks to Angel City Press at the Los Angeles Public Library. For information on the anthology, visit Angelcitypress.com.
